Department for Education - Executive Officer
Location: Cheylesmore House, Coventry, CV1 2WT
Hourly rate: £16.37
Working Days/Hours: 37.5hrs per week. Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm.
Hybrid following training: 60% Office 40% Remote
Contract: This is a temporary position until 30/09/2026. Possibility of extension, pending performance review and business needs.
Brook Street in partnership with the Department for Education has a fantastic opportunity to join their team as an Executive Officer. This is great opportunity to gain valuable exposure/experience working within the Public Sector.
Duties/ responsibilities:
Provide junior management support and carry out administrative duties that are moderately complex within the accounts payable team. Follow set procedures and exercise some independent judgement in carrying out instructions, under general supervision.
- Invoice Processing - Target to process an average of 350 invoices per month within one working day of receipt, with less than 1% error rate. Ensure all control checks on invoices are completed to a high standard.
- Team Communication & Coverage - Ensure clear communication on how to achieve shared goals. Arrange appropriate cover during absences so team objectives are not compromised. Preparing routine correspondence and checking that of others, managing the workload of a small team, if required.
- Invoices on Hold - Review daily and work towards resolving invoices placed on hold promptly within 1 working day.
- Payment Reconciliations - complete daily payment reconciliations ensuring accuracy.

Training:
1 Week - No holidays to be taken during training period. This role is to support during the peak annual leave season of May to September; it is preferred that minimal annual leave is taken during this period.
