Job Title - Executive Officer

Start date - asap

Temp hourly rate - £13.01/hr

Duration - 12 months

Role Type: Full Time working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday


Role Overview:

The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) supports the Public Guardian in carrying out the legal functions of the Mental Capacity Act 2005. The Act protects people in England and Wales who may not have the mental capacity to make certain decisions for themselves, such as about their health and financial affairs. Within the wider strategic aims of safeguarding, improving and widening the uptake of our services OPG also maintaining a register of Powers of attorney, supervises deputies and investigates and acting where there are concerns about an attorney or deputy. The legal team deliver direct support to all these aims and business critical processes. The support ranges from advice and direction of policy to taking cases to the Court to protect the vulnerable. The admin team offer critical support in managing this work and in particular where the Public is involved.



Job Description

Key duties will include:

o Supporting managers and other team members in the handling of statutory information requests, ensuring that cases are handled and completed within statutory timescales.

o Supporting managers and other team members in the handling of other casework and correspondence as required, ensuring that cases are handled and completed within operational timescales.

o Conducting tasks which support other areas of the Information Assurance Team's work such as information risk register administration and the administration and planning of records management audits.


Essential Criteria
o Proficient in use of standard Microsoft Office products.
o Excellent written and oral communication skills.
o Flexible approach to deal with the changing nature of work and competing requirements.
o Ability to independently plan and manage caseload.
Desirable Criteria
o Experience of handling correspondence in an organisation subject to statutory / regulatory requirements.
o Knowledge and / or awareness of information access legislation.

The roles are subject to passing a clear standard DBS and a full 3 years referencing
