Job Description

A temporary role is available in a government for a facilities manager who has relevant skills managing building/property issues and maintenance.

Location- Croydon, London
The salary is between £12.97-£14.81

To be successful in this role, you MUST have the following-

  • Relevant experience in a Facilities Management role;
  • Strong understanding of the legislative requirements relating to Health & Safety and fire safety;
  • Currently holding or willingness to work towards a specialist Health & Safety qualification;
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Experience of managing and leading a team;

We will need 3 years of references and we will obtain a basic DBS for you if you pass our aptitude and Microsoft office assessments.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the working environment provided is suitable, meets the needs of the people who work there, is compliant with all relevant legislation and supports the successful delivery of the Programme's objectives. You will be pro-active in your approach, using past experience to build a rapport within the programme staff and with the wider Facilities management teams.

You will also lead a small team of administrative staff within the organisation who are responsible for the on boarding and off boarding of staff along with other administrative duties in support of the programme.

Key Responsibilities

The post holder will:-

  • Be the main point of contact for any building issues, liaising with the building's landlord on issues such as cleaning, security, building maintenance, heating and air conditioning, escalating any issues and ensuring that they are resolved expeditiously;
  • Represent the programme on the tenant's group for the building;
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation relating to the provision of a safe and suitable working environment;
  • Manage any office moves, ensuring that such moves are planned, coordinated, communicated and implemented effectively;
  • Ensure that office supplies are ordered in a timely manner that ensures that there is no disruption to the work of the programme;
  • Liaise with IT service providers in order to resolve any issues that may arise;
  • Maintain accurate financial records for all building and service related expenditure in accordance with policy guidelines;
  • Ensure that minimum security and safety standards are complied with and all areas of significant risk and vulnerability are brought to the attention of local management and escalated, if appropriate;
  • Provide advice to the programme in order to ensure compliance with all relevant policies;
  • Develop, review and maintain a training programme for local officers within the building, including the coordination of Fire and Incident Control Officers and First Aid representatives;
  • Review and maintain records of qualifications, certifications and skills relating to security, health and safety and fire safety within the building;
  • Advise, support and where appropriate undertake incident and accident investigations of significant events which take place in the building;
  • Produce lessons learned in relation to any significant events that may occur in the building, providing support to ensure that future incidents are mitigated against;
  • Initiate, promote and improve security and safety education and awareness to all users of the building;

The post holder is required to work in a flexible way and undertake any other duties reasonably requested by line management which are commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post.
