Job Description
I am happy to announce that Brook Street is working in conjunction with an educational college in Oxford to help recruit a capable facilities technician. All candidates will be required to complete a heath and safety questionnaire prior to being accepted into the role. On site safety training will also be provided and wearing a mask will be required when working in proximity to anyone else. The initial contract will be for 12 weeks, however, that will likely be either extended or a permanent position will be offered.
Main Responsibilities/Duties
- Carry out basic repairs and maintenance of grounds, buildings and equipment, monitoring stock levels of consumable goods
- Maintenance of boilers, air handling plant and extract plant
- Maintenance and minor refurbishment / installation of laboratory equipment e.g. fume cupboards
- Carry out PAT testing and use the BMS system to identify problems and carry out checks
- Complete up-to-date log books, forms and records
- Comply with health and safety regulations
Other Responsibilities/Duties
- Other duties, as requested by the manager will be commensurate to your capabilities and relevance to the role
- Provide general support and or cover to the administration and facilities teams e.g. helping with 'Goods In', distributing mail, laying out rooms for events, etc.
- Provide basic maintenance of and driving a departmental minibus between BSP and Oxford city centre
Essential
- Literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to GCSE and working knowledge of Microsoft Office and e-mail
- Previous grounds and lab based maintenance experience
- Previous experience in plumbing, heating and ventilation systems, carpentry, painting and decorating and minor electrical works
- Conversant with Health and Safety legislation and with current COSHH and Manual Handling Regulations
- Previous experience in a customer focused environment with the ability to form strong working relationships to function as part of a team and be willing to learn
Desirable selection criteria
- Experience in using Portable appliance testing (PAT) and Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Driving licence (no penalties) which predates 1 January 1997 or a passenger carrying vehicle entitlement licence (PCV) category D1 or D, specific experience of driving a minibus in a busy town / city context.
- Experience in conducting routine vehicle safety inspections and maintenance
