Job Description

Finance & Admin Assistant
Croydon
Term Time + 2 weeks - 8.00 - 4.00 - 37.5 hours per week
£20,136 F/T
£15,876 - 41 weeks equivalent

Finance Assistant
Experience
At least 1 years' experience working in a finance department

o Experience of working within financial controls
o Experience of assisting with budget setting and budget management

o IT Literate/ Microsoft Office
o Organisational skills

Routine Academy Financial Control Tasks
o Collecting money from students in connection with academy trips, uniforms or other necessary payments;
o Raising and Issuing purchase order forms to budget holders and then ensuring all orders once complete are processed through the academy's accounting system;
o Aiding teachers and budget holders in sourcing the very best resources and cost effective solutions with an aim of cost reduction;
o Obtaining authorisation, coding and posting the purchase invoices and maintaining the purchase ledger;
o Raising and issuing sales invoices and maintaining the debtor's ledger; ensuring collection of monies owed on a timely basis.
o Raising BACS payments for purchase invoices in accordance with Payment run deadlines and ensuring correct approval process is adhered to;

Disadvantaged Students and Free School Meals
o Ensuring at enrolment that the Sixth Form and the Finance Department team have accurate data on disadvantaged and FSM
o Administering the practical process of bursary payments and ensuring audit requirements are met and disadvantaged students are fairly and equitably treated and supported in the academy's curriculum provision and teaching delivery

o Checking the protocols and controls are adhered to by the Sixth Form Bursary team
o Making payments (grants and academy trips etc); and keeping appropriate records.
o Reconciling the petty cash on a weekly basis and ensuring correct protocol is adhered to;
o To be responsible for the academy banking and posting of bank receipts;
o Dealing with incoming and outgoing post;
o Dealing with queries both internal and external;
o Ensuring an appropriate filing system is maintained;
o Assisting Finance Officer in any ad-hoc queries and duties;
o To carry out such additional duties as may be reasonably be required by the Finance Officer and Finance Business Partner or by the Academy Principal;

Enhanced DBS
o To undertake such other duties as may be required, commensurate with the level of responsibility of the post holder;
o To support the Resources manager with any administration requested;
o To be responsible for own professional development, identifying training needs and requesting courses as appropriate;
o To engage actively in the performance review process, addressing appraisal targets set by the line manager each autumn term.
