Job Description

This an exciting opportunity within the Teaching Regulation Agency. The role is in the finance team within the Programme Management Office of the TRA and will involve supporting the TRA with their financial responsibilities including the processing of panellist expenses, data entry and payment of invoices.

Key responsibilities

The post holders' responsibilities include:

Being customer focused, understanding and being responsive to the needs and requirements of customers within the TRA, the wider department and externally.
To be responsible for managing the payment of panellist expenses and develop strong working relationships with panellists.
To be responsible for ensuring that invoices are processed and paid promptly and, raising Purchase Orders when required.
To provide advice, guidance, and support to TRA staff on a range of financial issues.
To monitor finance team inboxes, handling or escalating queries as they arise.
To play an active role in identifying improvements to financial processes so that we are providing a service that supports key stakeholders.
To work with the finance team in supporting both internal and external audits.
To ensure compliance with governance, financial and procurement procedures in accordance with Cabinet Office and Treasury guidelines
To be willing to take learning and development on financial systems and processes.

Applicants will need to:

Have good interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to form effective working relationships
Be able within a team and at pace responding to changing business priorities and processes
Be able to work independently and take decisions
Have good planning and organisational skills
Be user centred, understanding their customer needs and being responsive to them
Have a strong interest to work in a financial role

Essential Criteria

Good communication skills and experience of working with others and in a team
Experience of Excel

Desirable Criteria

Experience of working within a financial environment
Must be available to work at critical times in the month for monthly reporting.
