Job Description

Our Oldham based client is one of the leading and fastest growing companies currently within the legal field of representation in the UK. Providing excellent service to clients is the cornerstone of their success. They are now looking for a Finance Manager to join the company and look after the department/ team.

The successful applicant will improve the efficiency and profitability of the Company, and will report into the Director. looking after a small team and have the ability to oversee a wide spectrum of finance functions as detailed below.

Main responsibilities include:
To oversee the Finance team in preparing the balance sheet reconciliations and to complete the monthly management accounts plus a commentary.
To prepare annual budgets and then report on actuals compared to budgets
To Plan and manage cash flow and ensure the effective management of income to optimise cash flow
Prepare cash flow forecasts and business plans and report back on actual figures against forecasts.
Review existing financial procedures and policies and revise or create new financial procedures and policies as required.
Lead, develop and appraise the finance team, encouraging them to develop to their full potential.
Provide financial reports, information and analyses to the Director, Senior Management Team and other staff members as required.
Develop key performance indicators reflecting the risks and opportunities of the Company, in conjunction with the Director and Senior Management Team.
Advise the Director and Senior Management Team on major financial issues that may arise from time to time. Participate in the strategic decision-making process as required.
To have responsibility for the financial management of the company's Legal Aid Agency (LAA) contracts.
To have responsibility for the financial management of all IAS subsidiaries and sister companies.
Drive savings and efficiencies for the Company.
Oversee and supervise the payroll, including online submission to HMRC and completion of end of year end returns in liaison with the HR Partner.
Review quarterly VAT return preparation and submission to HMRC prepared by the Management Accountant/Team leader.
Prepare annual accounts compliant with current legislation in liaison with auditors and tax consultants prior to submission to Companies House.

To apply for this role ccountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc) Degree or equivalent and excellent numeracy and analytical skills. Good interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills and the ability to clearly present financial information to a non-finance audience both verbally and in writing and ability to lead, motivate and build a team. Significant experience of accounting/bookkeeping including the operation of a computerised accounting system. You will have an understanding of the role of Finance in a medium sized company.
