Job description
The Higher Executive Officer will:
Provide professional support to the Payments function, lead on the day-to-day validation of payment transactions, managing a quality service through an accurate and timely interface with the department's internal and external stakeholders.
o Process and reconcile daily journals enabling payments within tight daily deadlines
o Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to work effectively
o Maintain a clear audit trail of all postings to the ledger
o Work to identify and undertake process improvements (including project work), making a strong contribution to continuous improvement within the division and wider agency.
o Handle and resolve associated queries, including complex cases from customers, suppliers and providers in a timely manner adhering to high customer service standards.
o Support the processing of purchase invoices, preparation of monthly accruals and lead on the day-to-day processing of payment transactions.
o Be responsible for the delivery of accurate and timely payments and assist in embedding tight payment controls.
o Provide high quality financial management information to senior management, including KPIs and statistics.
Person specification
o Experience of working in a busy finance function, with a good understanding of finance systems.
o Experience of supervising a small team and have the ability to persuade and guide more junior colleagues on complex issues within their business area.
o Experience of achieving team deadlines.
o Experience of customer service management.
o To understand their own work area and be able to get up to speed with issues relating to their own business area.
o Have a good understanding of the links to other areas and how their own work fits within the structure of the organisation and the external business environment.
o To have technical expertise that allows them to make sound and balanced judgements.
o Sound analytical skills and good judgement in providing advice or guidance to others.
o Good interpersonal skills
o Attention to detail
o Experience of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), finance experience and customer service experience with both internal and external stakeholders.
o Knowledge of Business Central(BC) payment systems is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.
