Job Description

Due to the continued growth of their Deep-Sea Imports Department our Belfast client is seeking to employ an experienced Freight Forwarder to join the team in Belfast.

The Freight Forwarder will be responsible for arranging, tracking, and coordinating worldwide shipments as well as providing administration of Import Shipments
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team with plans for further expansion.
The candidate for this role must come with a strong background in Imports Shipments who is focused on providing a service that not only meets but exceeds our customer expectations.

Responsibilities

Handle enquiries with customers and suppliers
Provide quotations for customers as required whilst maximising shipment profitability
Making bookings on internal Freight System
Dealing with other transport and haulage companies
Completing various types of paperwork associated with international freight forwarding in a timely and efficient manner.
Managing the movement of freight in and out of the country, including arranging appropriate documentation
Communicating with the authorities eg HMRC
Developing and implementing effective and constructive solutions to challenges and possible obstacles in import/ export activity.
Monitoring, recording, analysing and reporting on activities, trends, results and recommendations relating to import / export activities
Liaising with internal warehousing to co-ordinate freight activities.
Have the ability to develop our current and new business
Have the ability to deal with multiple shipments in a fast moving industry


Requirements

Minimum of 3 years` operational experience in sea freight
Knowledge of Import procedures and understanding of customs
Full UK Driving License and access to transport
GCSE English and Mathematics grade C or above -or equivalent qualifications
Proficient IT Skills with working knowledge of MS Office- experience in Excel and Word
Be a professional individual with knowledge of customer service and expectation.
Enthusiastic, hardworking, well organised, and able to prioritise
Ability and confidence to work on own initiative and be pro-active
Able to meet deadlines
Able to work with others, and willing to contribute to team communications
Excellent communication skills and able to communicate with both internal and with external customers

Hours of work are - 8.30 am to 5.00 pm, Monday to Friday however you may be expected to be flexible with working hours and may be required to cover other times as and when required
