Funeral Assistant / £18,000 per annum

Southampton

Brook Street is delighted to present the opportunity to work a family run Funeral Directors based in central Southampton which are looking to bring in an experienced and emotionally intelligent Funeral Assistant.

Who's right for the job?

The ideal candidate will come from a solid working background, will be able to adapt well to different circumstances, will work in a team, and will work well under pressure. Due to the coffin-bearing requirements you will need to be at least a height of 5 feet and 10 inches. You must be of a smart appearance, with a caring and empathetic nature. You must be professional at all times and work well with a team. You must have a clean full driving licence!

About the job:

Monday - Friday 8.30am to 5pm, 1 hour unpaid lunch break. 20 days holiday plus bank holidays, Pension scheme, and free parking. In addition you will be offered a competitive salary of £18k.

At times you will be required to work at weekends and in this case you will receive an extra £45. If you are called out on weekends or evenings you will also receive an additional £30 per call out. You will be provided with a uniform.

Key responsibilities:

You will be cleaning the vehicles for the funeral services, driving and bearing on funeral services and have to participate in an out of hour`s rota system which will require lifting.

Knowledge and skills required:

  • Empathetic and Caring personality is key
  • You will be articulate and well-presented
  • Ideally you will have experience of working in a busy / high pressure environment.
  • A high standard of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong time management and prioritisation skills
  • A flexible approach to tasks
