Job Description


Our client, a Chartered Professional Body, based in Edinburgh city centre, is currently recruiting for a General Counsel Coordinator. This pivotal role ensures support to the General Counsel in the effective management of the organisation by providing high quality administrative support to the members of General Counsel Directorate and administrative assistance to Boards.


Responsibilities

Providing administrative support as required to the General Counsel Directorate: This to include formatting of complex legal documents, presentations, audio typing, establishing and maintaining spreadsheets/databases.

Organising Working Party and Committee meetings, including preparation and distribution of agendas and papers, taking minutes and recording actions.

Managing publication and monitoring results of regulatory consultations.

Updating the regulatory pages of the website.

Provide full administration to the Professional Support Service including lodgement and circulation of queries to panels of volunteers, monitoring of progress with responses and collation of responses and reporting.

Diversity of the Role

As a General Counsel Co-Ordinator you are likely to have very varied tasks and will be required to exercise initiative regularly using procedures and precedents to provide guidance.

The role is varied and requires the post holder to be highly organised and flexible in the tasks that they deal with, depending on which part of the General Counsel Division is experiencing a peak in work.

Progression and monitoring of consultation feedback and approval processes.

Formatting and amending complicated documents and ensuring that all changes have been made to the document before it is sent for final review;

Taking minutes at high level meetings; these may include technical subject matter.

Balancing demands of multiple workflows and projects

Strong Administrative experience
Strong organisational skills
Methodical and able to work under pressure of workload
Good team worker
Strong communication skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive and confidential issues
Experienced user of Microsoft Office, in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Good typing skills ( 40wpm )
Efficient Minute taking

Desirable

Interest in or experience of regulatory/legal issues
Interest in or experience of the financial sector
Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Project
Experience of working in a regulatory/legal environment
Experience of working in an organisation with volunteer input
