Job Description

Derry City FC is continuing to develop one of Ireland's most famous football clubs with the addition of a General Manager to our office-based team.

The General Manager will be charged with the effective operational and financial management of Derry City Football Club; and with assisting the Board of Directors in further developing the Club as a sporting entity, a business, and as a community-centred organisation.

Duties will include managing the club's finances, identifying new revenue streams, liaising with the FAI, UEFA, and other relevant bodies, reporting directly to the Board of Directors, managing operational change, increasing financial income, effectively marketing the club on a local and national basis, preparing and delivering financial reports to the Board of Directors, liaising with Derry City & Strabane District Council, and conducting the critical role of establishing effective relationships with the junior football community, with local football clubs, and with schools, youth clubs, and community groups in Derry and Donegal.

The salary for this role will be £35,000 per annum.

Candidates must have:
5 years' general management experience in a senior role in a private company, social enterprise, or a voluntary organisation;
OR
a third level qualification and 2 years' general management experience in a senior role in a private company, social enterprise, or a voluntary organisation.

In addition, candidates must have excellent IT-literacy including CRM systems, MS Excel, Outlook, and Word, must have experience of managing staff, budgets, and financial control systems, and must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

Although not essential, it would be highly advantageous if candidates have experience of working within a football business environment, commercial experience within another sporting discipline, experience of utilising social media for commercial purposes, experience of O365 and GSuite, and knowledge of the culture and role of Derry City Football Club.
