Title: Geographic Information System (GIS) and data support contingent labour.
Reports to - the Senior Data Officer (HEO)
Location: Flexible - London
Purpose of the Role:
Supporting the Senior Data Officer with Blue Belt and OCPP data management and analysis.
Use GIS to spatially represent and or map the distribution of fishing and other maritime activities against legal boundaries as required by the Senior Data Officer.
Quality Asses (QA) or manage other non-GIS data sets as required - mainly using excel.
Present these data sets internally and possibly to external partners.
Accompany analysis with written reports.
Other ad hoc task to support the team.
Work related to General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and other data protection legislation may be required. This work would involve recording audit records of data sharing and receipt.
Requirements for the Role:
Essential requirements for the role are:
" Have knowledge and experience of using spatial data and software to carry out analysis to generate new data and insights.
" Ability to overcome GIS problems using own initiative
" Experience sourcing, preparing and analysing heterogenous data to prepare graphics, metrics and reports
" A sound, practical working knowledge of excel.
" Ability to summarise results for a non-technical audience
" Ability to work closely with GMTs Compliance and Enforcement (C and E) team - including attendance at weekly intelligence and team meetings
A geography Graduate with GIS knowledge would be great for the role
