Hand Sewer- Peterborough
Brook Street have the pleasure of working with our well-established client based in Peterborough who are seeking a dedicated hand sewer to join their dynamic team on an ongoing temporary contract with the view to eventually go permanent. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within a supportive and fast-paced environment.
As a Hand Sewer, you will be responsible for sewing and finishing a variety of textile products by hand. This role requires precision, working at pace, attention to detail, and a steady hand to ensure the highest quality standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Hand Sewing: Perform hand stitching and finishing on various textile products, ensuring precise and neat results.
Quality Control: Inspect materials and finished products for defects and ensure they meet company standards.
Pattern Following: Accurately follow patterns and sewing instructions to create high-quality products.
Repair Work: Perform repairs and alterations on textile products as needed.
Material Handling: Properly handle and care for fabrics, ensuring no damage during the sewing process.
Tool Maintenance: Maintain and care for sewing tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
Product Knowledge: Stay informed about the different types of fabrics and materials used in production.
Time Management: Manage time effectively to meet production deadlines while maintaining quality.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Experience: Proven experience as a hand sewer as a hobby or in a similar role.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in various hand sewing techniques.
Attention to Detail: High level of precision and attention to detail in all tasks.
Manual Dexterity: Excellent hand-eye coordination and steady hands for delicate sewing tasks.
Quality Focus: Strong commitment to producing high-quality work and maintaining standards.
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently and effectively.
Physical Stamina: Ability to sit and sew for extended periods.
Communication: Basic verbal and written communication skills.
Benefits:
£12.31 per hour
Start date: ASAP
Monday to Friday 8 hour shift rotating between the hours of 6am-9:30pm
Overtime available pay up to double time depending on shift
X2 15-minute breaks paid and 30 min unpaid lunch
