Temporary Handyperson - Student Accommodation | Birmingham City Centre (B4)

Temporary Handyperson Required

Are you a practical, hands-on individual with maintenance experience and a strong focus on customer service? Our client is seeking a Temporary Handyperson to support the day-to-day operation of a busy student accommodation site in Birmingham City Centre (B4). Based on the job description, the role involves maintenance, repairs, health & safety compliance, and supporting accommodation services.

£13.45 per hour

Hours

Monday - Thursday: 9:00am - 4:30pm

Friday: 9:00am - 3:30pm

34 hours per week

The Role

As a Handyperson, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for residents. You will respond to maintenance requests, carry out minor repairs, assist with inspections, and support the overall running of the accommodation facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to repair requests, assessing faults and carrying out repairs where possible.
  • Undertake general maintenance and minor repair work across the site.
  • Keep external grounds free from litter and maintain high site standards.
  • Ensure refuse and recycling areas are clean, tidy, and operational on a daily basis
  • Move furniture, white goods, and equipment as required.
  • Maintain stock rooms and keep accurate stock records.
  • Assist with emergency cleaning tasks, including spillages and flood incidents.
  • Accompany managers, staff, and contractors during inspections and site visits.
  • Carry out weekly fire alarm testing and assist with evacuation procedures.
  • Operate professional radio communications and ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures

About You

  • We're looking for someone who:
  • Has general maintenance or Handyperson experience
  • Has an appreciation of building maintenance and facilities issues
  • Possesses a good awareness of Health & Safety requirements
  • Can work independently and prioritise workloads effectively
  • Is reliable, flexible, and has excellent timekeeping
  • Has basic PC skills for responding to emails and completing compliance forms
  • Is approachable, a strong communicator, and enjoys working as part of a team
  • Can confidently interact with residents, staff, and contractors in a professional manner
