Job Description

We are supporting a leading automotive manufacturer in recruiting a Health and Safety Implementation Manager.

Reporting to the HR Manager, with a dotted line into the Group HSE Director, the H&S
Implementation Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all health, safety and ergonomic (include'health' in all references) standards are maintained and compliant to UK EHS Regulatory framework and client specific policies.

Main responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to):
- In conjunction with the Group HSE Director, develop the H&S strategy for the site
- Execute the H&S risk management programme across the site covering all hazards and controls associated with the business
- Responsibility for maintaining and compliance with ISO45001 Safety management systems
- Accident reduction through risk reduction programmes
- Operational H&S implementation & Support
- Safety leadership
- Behavioural based safety development
- HSE Linx H&S & Ergo inc Occupational health
- Lead safety L&D programmes
- Effective change management support
- Ensure the Health and Safety policies and procedures are consistently applied based on the principles of the Magna Employee's Charter, the Corporate and Divisional Health, Safety and Environmental and Ergonomic policy, as well as being in compliance with legislation
- Promote and practice "safety first" by immediately addressing any hazards, defective equipment or unsafe conditions within the department
- Conduct monthly safety and ergonomic audits and report results to division Leaders as well as offer improvement suggestions to fill the gap

- Monitor new and amended legislation and remain current with the latest health, safety and ergonomic requirements
- Review all accident/incident investigation reports and provide leadership in developing and implementing corrective actions
- Maintain effective communication and coordination with all internal customers, plant Leaders and Team Members; maintain positive employee relations; listen to issues and concerns and respond within 48 hours
- Plan and coordinate internal and external safety training for all Team members as well as ensuring that everyone is kept up to date on H&S changes
- Continually evaluate the H&S processes in place and advise on any necessary changes required
- Manage External Certification body surveillance visits and regulators
- Promote the companies HSE policies across the department and plant and adhere to all Health and Safety Environmental requirements
- Other related duties as determined by the HR Manager or Group HSE Director

Essential skills include:
- Post-secondary education in safety engineering or equivalent experience in an industrial environment
- Health and Safety in the Automotive sector, Engineering or Manufacturing environment, preferred
- Member of IEMA
- Ergonomics
- TS-16949
- NEBOSH & COSHH
- Working towards CMIOSH
- Working knowledge of H&S legislation
- Knowledge of control of substances, vibration, asbestos, Legionella, noise and work equipment
- Experience of press work and fabrication processes
- OHSAS18001 and ISO14001 lead auditor
- Behavioural safety
- Ability to manage technical staff
- Risk assessor
- Investigator / problem solver
