Job Description

Health and Safety Officer

Location: Liverpool (Knowsley)/London

Hours: 35 hours per week - details to be agreed.

Salary details: Est. 30,000+PA

Role:

To lead the development, promotion and implementation of a Health and Safety Culture within the company by embedding policy into practice, sharing good practice and disseminating information across the organisation.

Highlighted tasks:

-To be a health and safety resource and be able to interpret the law in the context of the organisation.

-Develop and undertake specific H&S audits as appropriate

-Prepare concise constructive reports for Health & Safety Group and other management and governance groups as appropriate.

-Deliver against the priorities in the H&S action plan and develop this plan overtime including agreeing annual delivery targets.

-Give direct support to staff that have health and safety queries. This may include site visits where necessary but also telephone support during office hours

Please note: Responsibilities may be varied from time to time as agreed by the post holder and Line Manager.

Training:

Committed to training as an integral part of staff development and provides a comprehensive training programme through the Training & Development Department.

Requirements of role:

-2 years practical work experience in a related field

-Experience in producing reports

-Experience of translating policy into practice through a variety of approaches

-Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply Health and Safety legislation

-Ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels

-Ability to prioritise work and work with a minimum of direct supervision

-Ability to use computer equipment and Microsoft Office software competently

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills

-Numerical and Report writing skills

-Drive with own vehicle

-Ability to travel extensively in England.
