Job Description

Our Client is an established independent IT & Comms Managed Service Provider who Partner with top Vendors such as Microsoft, Cisco, Citrix, VMWare, VEEAM etc.,

Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Hosting & Infrastructure Consultant will be responsible for the provision of consultancy level technical expertise as well as for the ongoing development of Company's own hosted services platform. The key objective of the role is to provide the link between the sales and delivery functions in order to ensure efficient and successful project delivery. Therefore, the role requires a high level of technical proficiency and will be involved in all elements of the pre-sales process, from solution definition and design, through to implementation. Commercial aptitude is a critical factor to ensure the projects are viable technically and financially for a growing managed services business.

  • Provide technical consultancy to Company's managed services customers, understanding their business's individual needs, objectives and practices and designing, configuring and deploying high-quality solutions that leverage the latest technologies to underpin their business operations and support future growth.
  • As the 'technical design authority' for Company prepare and present compelling business propositions, concepts and ideas to senior clients and where necessary adapt these to the client audience.

  • Work with Sales to prepare detailed quotations for new business prospects and conclude contracts in accordance with the Company standard procedures, ensuring that all deals are secured and closed appropriately.
  • Qualify sales opportunities for feasibility of solution offering, to ensure that the type of services required are within the Company's field of competence, ensuring delivery capabilities and capacity align with expectations committed to clients.

  • Define the hosting and infrastructure roadmap for the business, including the ongoing development of Company's own hosted services platform, ensuring that it is efficient, effective and scaled to meet the current and future requirements of a growing managed services provider.

  • Provide technical expertise and escalation support for Company's frontline operational team where required. assisting the resolution of internal and customer faults and queries and providing documented root cause analysis.

  • From experience and understanding of the Hosting and Infrastructure environment, qualify potential additional sources of revenue for all relevant Company products and services.
  • Understand the technical sales process, enabling clients to understand the Company proposition and validity in context of their business. Work in collaboration with Company Account Management/Sales Team to help them promote the Company's products and services on the same basis.
  • Sell and promote the Company's products and services by identifying key decision makers - and those who influence at all levels within the account - and developing strong relationships with these clients.
  • Acting as an ambassador for the company, raise its profile, branding and credibility within the market. This includes representing the Company at conferences, trade shows and other external industry events.
  • Ensure continuity for the customer by providing an effective handover to the post sales delivery team: Including clear definitions of business and technical requirements, key project personnel, defined system specifications, project scope.
  • Propose new areas of work and new product ideas to Senior Management. Identify risks associated with various strategies on both technical and business issues and recommend a course of action.
  • Keep up to date with new developments in hosting and infrastructure technologies and their application within the customer and supplier marketplaces in order to appreciate future customer requirements and improve Company's solutions.
  • Contribute significantly to the development of Company goals, growth and profitability targets by being an active member of the team and culture.Identify potential competitive threats and take timely and effective action to minimise them.
  • Planning and organising daily workload. This includes managing time effectively between project delivery and pre-sales support, and where necessary adjusting work plans to support high priority incidents and the delivery of services to pre-agreed SLAs and KPIs.

Skills and experience

  • A minimum of ten years' significant experience within a Windows Enterprise environment, working with on-premise infrastructure and/or hybrid cloud solutions, ideally as a Technical Consultant or Solutions Architect
  • Advanced knowledge of DNS, DHCP, GPO, IIS and PowerShell scripting
  • Proven ability to design complex multi-vendor Enterprise Datacentre and Cloud solutions to meet customer requirements, with technical expertise in cross-platform hybrid cloud environments
  • Functional understanding of Enterprise Storage, LAN Switching, Hyper-V & System Centre, VMware ESXi & vSphere, Veeam Backup & Replication, Deployment and migration to Azure & AWS
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, across many levels within an organisation
  • Logical and methodical approach to working with strong problem-solving skills.
