Job Description

Brook Street are seeking a proactive HR Operations Manager (Deputy HR Manager) to provide maternity cover within a thriving Oxford University Department. This role is responsible for the day to day delivery of HR services in the Department, and management of the HR operations team which consists of 5 FTE staff. The post is available from July 2022 until end of September 2023.

You will have responsibility for building strong working relationships with academic staff and managers providing sound advice, and ensuring that routine business including appointments, right to work checks, payroll and contract changes and visitor agreements are completed in a timely way within the HR Operations team. You will be responsible for ensuring HR Operations remain compliant with both University and Departmental policy and process, and will ensure that best practice is adhered to within the Department. You will line manage the HR Operations team, and have responsibility for their pastoral care, welfare, development and training, whilst also working closely with the HR Manager, Staff Development Manager and divisional HRBP on departmental wide issues.

You will join the Department and the team at an interesting time, updating and rolling out process changes caused as a result of the pandemic and previous expansion of the Department as well as ensuring the team provide excellence customer service for business as usual.

You will be Educated to degree level, or have equivalent experience, with membership of the CIPD (or equivalent). Have experience of staff management and the ability to motivate others. Also significant HR experience with in-depth knowledge of recruitment process, as well as UK employment law and Home Office visa regulations process. Previous experience of handling employee relations casework is preferred.
