Job Description

Do you have experience in Import Shipping? Would you like to work for a leading manufacturing and distribution company in the Skelmersdale area?

If so, this could be the perfect role for you. Working at the client`s main base in the Skelmersdale area, you can look forward to a competitive basic salary, ranging from £21,000-£23,000 per annum and your main duties will be to handle imports alongside providing department support to anything that relates to the import and shipping requirements.

Benefits in this role include:

Competitive basic salary (£21,000-£23,000 per annum).

Working hours that range between 0900-1700 Mon-Fri.

Free, on site car parking facilities.

Your day to day duties in this role include:

Communicating with international suppliers and liaising with their Far East office via phone and e-mail.

Taking full responsibility and accountability on shipping schedules which would be based on both customer and cost requirements.

Using and collecting data for analysis reporting that would then be passed over to Line Managers and Managing Directors.

Tracking all shipments and outlining any delays or issues within internal departments.

Organising factories in regards to import and shopping alongside overseeing quality checks.

Regularly in contact with shipping forwarders and then negotiating competitive rates.

Using the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet and reviewing information every day whilst cross-checking this on SAP and SAGE systems.

In order to apply for this role, you MUST have the following skills and experience:

Two years experience or an exposure in a imports or shipping role.

Strong organisational and time management skills alongside a keen eye for detail.

Able to and potentially have worked in a fast paced environment.

Able to make decisions by both reviewing and analyising numerous factors.

It would also desirable for the right candidate to understand all Microsoft Office systems and to be able to use both SAGE and SAP software.

Another desirable would be for the right candidate to have had an exposure to EU Timber Regulations.
