Job Description

NHS Digital- Band 5 Information Analyst
Location: Leeds
Hours: Monday - Friday (37.5 hours)
Pay: £12.74
This is an ongoing temporary position with the possibility of a further extension at the discretion of the business requirements.

We are looking for talented and driven individuals to join our Information, Analysis and Statistical Division within the Data Services Directorate. The analysts will join teams producing statistics and other analysis relating to the NHS Workforce, Primary and Secondary Care activity, Adult Social Care, and Prescribing data.

The role holders will work/gain experience of:

Using software and statistical packages to produce Official Statistics, dashboards and other analysis to support decision making in the health and social care sectors

Collecting, analysing and interpreting complex data sets and drawing evidence-based conclusions to improve health and social care services

Engaging with customers and stakeholders

Learning how to make the best use of existing data and develop new data collections

Sharing data related expertise, disseminating information effectively for example using tables, charts, and statistical commentary

Working in a fast-paced environment, delivering analytical products to a range of stakeholders

Knowledge, Skills and Professional Competencies

Good working knowledge and experience of using databases and interrogation tools. Depending on the specific role, practical experience with some of the following will be required:

SQL, Python, R, SAS, SPSS, HTML, Power BI, Tableau

Excellent spreadsheet skills and experience of making use of the wider functionality and formulae. Use of Microsoft Office applications.

Strong analytical and requirements gathering skills; able to present and explain information using written and verbal skills.

Understands a wide range of data quality issues and the application of the appropriate data validation techniques

Able to work as part of a team and communicate effectively within the team, with other internal colleagues and stakeholders in other organisations.

Meticulous attention to detail, a logical approach to work and good organisational skills.

The ability to prioritise tasks.

Problem-solving skills.

Ability to communicate difficult-to-explain issues to technical and non-technical contacts.

Committed to continuing professional development through training and courses.

Able to interpret and apply professional standards including the Code of Practice for Statistics and General Data Protection Regulations
