Job Description
We have an opportunity for a data and information analyst to join our client NHS Digital. These are long-term temporary roles to start asap
If you have experience of working within data/information analysis or recently graduated in a course which frequently required data/information analysis this may be the role for you

NHS Digital - Information Analyst
Location - Leeds (Successful Candidate would need to be in the Leeds office for around 3 days per week, in accordance with NHS Digital's hybrid working arrangements
Salary - £13.12 per hour
Hours - Monday - Friday (37.5 Hours)
Duration - Temporary contract until March 2023 possibility for review for extension and possibility to apply for permanent positions within the NHS
To work as part of a multidisciplinary team of analysts in the Prescribing and Medicines Analysis team. The Prescribing and Medicines team are funded through GIA to deliver analytical insight based on the following data collections:
- Medicines dispensed in primary care (NHS BSA data)
- Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) data in Secondary Care for COVID-19
The purpose of these collections is to enable key aspects of the provision of medicine services across England to be assessed at both a national, regional and local level, utilising our published, quality assured reports.
The Role:
- Process prescribing and medicines datasets on receipt and carry out initial validation checks
- Support colleagues in performing DQ tasks, data analysis and report production
- Support colleagues in all post-production tasks
- Develop technical skills and subject matter expertise to support efficient, high quality reporting
- Support colleagues across the prescribing team to provide a flexible service
- Contribute to the development of a knowledge base for all publications, including the Knowledge Hub
- Contribute to recoding all prescribing processes in Python, SQL or R, in readiness for SAS exit
- Lead by example on implementing Reproducible Analytical Pipelines (RAP) within the prescribing team, working closely with the graduate placement to achieve this
- Present knowledge/findings to team on a regular basis to share learning
Skills and Experience:
- Ability to manage own workload in order to deliver to multiple conflicting priorities.
- Proficient in Python, MS-SQL server, or R, including how to execute and create complex queries that link multiple databases.
- Able to use own initiative
- Able to work as part of a team
- Knowledge and experience of how to understand and interpret results from complex analysis, apply the results to the given problem and suggest conclusions to be drawn.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to present and explain complex analysis to non-technical audience.
