The role
To work with specialists and project stakeholders, looking at the business technical requirements and seeing designs through to implementation, ensuring this is going the benefit the business

Responsibilities

" To design information solutions to meet identified requirements
" Investigate IT systems that could benefit Northampton Police and support the team in identifying the solutions.
" Working closely with specialised teams to design and identify the solutions considering functionality, security, performance, infrastructure and networks
" Working closely with procurement to estimate a cost for a IT system to help the users, considering the infrastructure, development and support.
" To provide advice and guidance about the impact of the propose project on current and future state of the force's information, application and technology architectures
" To contribute to the development and maintenance of a set of policies and standards for technical projects to ensure that all projects are delivered in compliance and agreed quality standards
" To research and keep abreast of developments and best practices with regards to technology particularly in the area of infrastructure and networks
" To help the force to exploit its existing technology and use knowledge of IT solutions to enable organisational change and support business process design.

Person Specifications
" Knowledge of application and infrastructure
" Proven ability to produce a range of technical and non-technical reports
" Creative, enthusiastic, customer focused and committed to the role
" Held technical responsibility for the design, development, implementation and testing of at least one major IT system
" Knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques and tools for the effective management of projects from initiation through to implementation
" Excellent verbal communication, report writing and interpersonal skills
" Team player and can work on your own
" Public sector experience

Prince 2 qualification
Technical qualifications relevant to the technical knowledge
