Thames Valley Park, Reading/Remote
Contract is until 31st December 2018 initially

Brook Street is currently working on behalf of our Global IT Client to recruit an International Writer. This is a contract role based in Reading until 31st December 2018, with a probable extension until 30th June 2019, with the possibility to work remotely.

As a Brook Street contractor you will be entitled to 25 days holiday per annum, 8 days paid Bank Holidays pro rota, discounted gym membership, use of the onsite health facility, access to online learning and training, free parking and an excellent subsidised restaurant.

Salary: daily rate of £311.00

Job Description

Do you wish your computers, phone, and TV could understand you in new ways? We're looking for a creative writer to join us in the ongoing care and curating of one of our most innovative products.

The ideal candidate is exceptionally creative and is fond of technology. They should be comfortable working with standard publishing tools like CMS and XML editors, and happy to learn about and adapt to new tools or processes. They should be a published author of original content such as screenplays, novels, short stories, poetry etc. Or other content where there is an emphasis on dialogue, 3rd party personality/character development or storytelling.

You will thrive in collaborative cultures, yet are also disciplined, organised, able to deal with high volume requests, and successful with tight deadlines. You're excited to be involved in fresh innovations and passionately believe in ensuring the highest quality content throughout every experience.

Responsibilities
" Write creative and innovative British local content designed to engage and delight customers.
" Identify opportunities for content additions, improvements, and innovations and effectively pitch those ideas to the writer team and stakeholders. Then collaborate with them on it.
" Handle file management, validation, and publishing tasks.
" Validate recorded answers created for the product for accuracy and quality, and ensure they are properly implemented in the product.
" Analyse user data through internal business intelligence tools, in order to identify new relevant content to create.
" Build an ongoing relationship with the relevant subsidiary stakeholders, with the aim of collaborating on impactful content, awareness, PR, promotion, and other opportunities.
" Promote our content to end-users using product-internal promotional channels, as well as the local subsidiary ones.

Candidate Requirements
" Native UK speaker, with impeccable English writing style, grammar and spelling. Special thoroughness is expected in making sure style, grammar and spelling are perfect.
" Background in creative writing or directing for entertainment purposes (playwriting/screenwriting, narrative design, exhibition/museum design, etc.)
" Experience writing and publishing novels, poetry, short stories etc. very desirable.

Qualifications
" Experience writing dialogue for a 3rd party / character.
" Experience with using content management systems
" Interest in learning about new tools or work methods.
" Good interpersonal skills
" Motivation for teamwork and sharing ideas and experiences.
" Ability to talk or run presentations in front or external audiences or journalists.
" Degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or Computer Sciences

" Very keen eye for excellence in creating and delivering content
" Creative problem-solving skills
" Knowledge of other languages appreciated
