Job Description

Are you interested in a career working with and caring for animals? If so, then we have a Kennel Assistant role working within one of our Government client's teams located in B26 near Birmingham Business Park.

You will be working alongside Dog Handlers within a highly specialised team. The role is to ensure that all dogs are provided with sufficient daily care including feed, exercise and grooming. Ensure that hygiene standards in the kennels and dog vans are maintained. Organise servicing and maintenance of unit vehicles. Ensure that there are adequate stocks of dog food and cleaning supplies. Co-ordinate all veterinary visits and ensuring that medication is administered to the dogs. Assist dog handlers in setting up continuation training and with operational work as required. Ensure that all associated equipment is accounted for and maintained in an operational condition and recorded appropriately.

It is essential that all applicants are comfortable and confident around dogs, as exercising and administering medication, first aid and grooming dogs is an essential part of the job. It is a physically demanding role which will involve weekend, bank holidays (including Christmas Day on a rotational basis) and shift working (not nights)

This is a temporary role paying £8.21ph for the first 12 weeks rising to £9.13ph.
