BS Social Care is currently working with a care company who is recruiting for a full time and permanent Kitchen Assistant within their residential home of 18 adults with learning disabilities of all complexities.

About the employer; this company is a charity which was established in 1981 by parents that had increasing concerns about the care their children were receiving all those years ago. They are now a successful and well lead charity working with adults (some of which were there as children and now grown up) to ensure that they are receiving the best possible care. Their ethos is totally person centred and they train their staff to give top professional care as this is paramount for everyone involved no matter why you are a part of it.

About the job;

Support the Catering Manager in the day to day running of the kitchen ensuring that the residents eat well and have a healthy diet.
Deputise for the Catering Manager during times of absence.
Follow set menus.
Prepare and cook all food to the highest possible standard and in line with the residents` dietary needs.
Present and serve all meals in a professional, appetising and appropriate way.
Clear and `clean down` after all meals.
Assist in keeping the whole kitchen area clean and tidy in line with Hygiene, Health and Safety Standards.
Ensure all Health and Safety, COSHH, RIDDOR and Food Hygiene practices are always observed and maintained.
Check in and record all stock deliveries as and when necessary.
Report any damages and/or defects of equipment and premises to the Management Team.
Have an awareness and understanding of equal opportunities.
Ensure that reasonable care is always taken for the health, safety and welfare of yourself and other persons.
Comply with the legislation, policies and procedures relating to health and safety, staff training and supervision within the organisation.
Carry out any other duties which fall within the nature of this post.

About the ideal candidate; for this role, it is essential that you hold a Level 1 Basic Food Hygiene certificate and are willing to work towards the Level 2 and 3 in Food Hygiene and it is also essential that you are a driver as there isn`t any public transport to where this home is based. It is ideal that you hold at least 1 years of experience working within a commercial kitchen environment and then experience of working with adults with learning disabilities, but this is not essential.

This is a full time and permanent role working 37.5 hours per week (hours to be confirmed) paying £9.01ph. You will also have a full induction, a number of training courses and qualifications paid for you. There is also potential of promotions due to there being a Head Chef role in the team.

To apply, please contact Zoe Gunn at BS Social Care by sending your CV evidencing your Level 1 in Food Hygiene and your 1 years kitchen experience and follow up with a call on 07484037455 to discuss information further.
