Job Description

Are you a strong Administrator looking for a new permanent role?

£17,000 - £18,000 to start as soon possible, Interviews will be held over the next week.
FULWOOD, PRESTON. Mon - Fri 9 -5

Brook Street is currently recruiting for a legal secretary for an established client within their modern offices on the outskirts of Preston.

You do not need specific legal secretary experience however you must possess the following skills:-
-Must be capable of working to deadlines and time limits.

-Must have good typing speeds to a minimum of 40 wpm, with accurate transcription from audio tapes.

-Must be used to working with MS Word.

-Must be able to communicate effectively with clients, to put them at their ease and (with suitable training) explain the procedural stages of legal services as appropriate for the role.

-Must be able to display a flexible nature in the face of the demands and pressures of private legal work.

-Must be self-motivated and used to using own initiative under supervision. Should be accustomed to the accuracy needed for legal work and related forms.

-You should be prepared to adopt flexible working practices including reasonable attendance out of office hours where necessary.

-Be prepared to develop client care skills and have a pleasant personality with a good sense of humour.

-Smart appearance and capable of appreciating the needs of a professional office environment.

The prime role of the legal secretary is to provide direct support to his/her Principal to enable the Principal to operate at optimum efficiency. This will include but will not be limited to the main responsibilities given below. The legal secretary is expected to use a high degree of self-management and initiative.

Main duties

-To prepare correspondence and documents through audio-typing and word processing.

-To administer filing which will include daily filing and the opening, closing, storage and retrieval of client files in accordance with the detailed procedures contained in the Office Manual or as directed from time to time by Fee Earners.

-To prepare mail and enclosures for dispatch.

-To arrange for all copying to be done or to do it in person if an Office Junior is not available to undertake the task.

-To make appointments, arrange meetings and to maintain an up-to-date diary for his/her Principal.

-To prepare an interview room for meetings as necessary and for the tidying and clearance of the room at the end of the meeting.

-To provide refreshments when asked to do so.

-To provide support to other secretaries as required.

-To provide guidance to junior and temporary secretaries when required to do so.

-To attend clients both in person and on the telephone and to provide such support in a professional and friendly manner in keeping with the firm`s standards for client care.

-To undertake any specific training when required to do so and overall to have a responsibility towards self-development.

-To ensure the confidentiality of all the firm`s and client`s documentation and information.
