This role reports to the Manufacturing Manager of a company based in Trafford Park. The main focus of the position is to ensure team members are developed and supported during the operations of a busy machine shop.
Working hours are a shift pattern of 6-2 and 2-10. It is essential that you are a time served engineer with a good knowledge of CNC vertical machining
Responsibilities will include:
Supervise team members on a daily basis during the normal operation of the machine shop in line with production planning
Ensure that team members have an adequate work load on a daily basis
Determine the best use of man power in the team
Manage staff attendance
Operating of VMC machines and other workshop equipment
Set and prove out job, obtaining a first of job has been proved out.
Run milling machines after setting, ensuring that quality is maintained throughout the entire production run.
Ensuring routine machine maintenance is carried out as necessary
Operate a CNC and Manual CMM machines, following instructions to run programs to check drawing compliance of manufactured parts.
Attend weekly production meetings
Assist with any problem solving issues
Identify and develop manufacturing improvements
Skills and Experience Required:
An engineering apprenticeship
A good understanding of engineering practices and methods
Knowledge of powder metallurgy processes
Knowledge and understanding of machining methods, particularly vertical CNC milling machines and lathes
Team Leading experience
