Job Description

Brook Street Inverness are seeking a Temporary Maintenance Engineer for an immediate start within a food manufacturing business.

Role Purpose:
To ensure line or process downtime is minimised through the prompt response to and resolution of engineering issues.
To work closely with the Site Engineering Team to maximize efficiency of the equipment and continuously strive to improve the equipment to meet the operational needs of the business.
To support the implementation of new equipment as required.

What you'll be doing:
Respond to and resolve line running issues;
Actively participate in plan and review maintenance, completing tasks as scheduled;
Carry out pre-emptive condition-based monitoring on specified items of plant as requested;
Raise workorders, input breakdown and root cause corrective work and other actions ensuring that these are communicated to relevant stakehoders;
Monitor equipment as scheduled using agreed maintenance times and schedules;
Communicate and provide adequate handover information for oncoming shift engineers;
Participate in site engineering projects to investigate, understand and improve existing processes;
Working in collaborations with support functions on innovation projects;
Working with support departments, aim to drive down waste and increase capacity;
Support AM and line activities improvement by working closely with the Operations Teams;
Sign off Work Permits and other safety documents, as required to support manufacturing operations;
Ensure that minimum standards are maintained: i.e. work in a tidy, clean, structured and professional manner, particularly the engineering workshops;
Work in compliance with HACCP, hygiene rules and PQC requirements and report any issues/concerns to QA;
Responsibility and ownership of a production area/asset ;

What we need from you:
Essential
Approved Engineering apprenticeship/ qualification (City & Guilds and National Certificate), or equivalent
Fault-finding skills
Understanding of problem-solving techniques
To be competent in a range of technical skills covering mechanical, electrical pneumatics, machining, welding and fabrication disciplines.
Practical mechanical and electrical experience within a production environment
Knowledge of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) and HACCP
Understanding of professional maintenance techniques; Predictive, Preventative, Condition based & Planned
Computer literate
Demonstrated ability to be a team player i.e. evidence of team working
Desirable
Previous experience in an FMCG
Food Industry experience
