Management Accountant

Brook street is hiring for a Management Accountant for the

Salary £25,655 - £31,534
Location Peterborough / Home Hybrid
Start date Immediate - 3 month contract, possibility of permanent after
Hours 37.5 Per week


Purpose of the job

The management accountant will be responsible for providing support to a Business Partner in ensuring monthly management reports are accurate, timely and relevant, in accordance with the agreed reporting timetable. This will also involve liaising with Divisions and Corporate Managers and lead staff by providing relevant verbal and written financial information.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to the monthly reporting process, by ensuring that all accruals, invoices and budget adjustments are completed within the agreed reporting timetable

  • Assist in the interpretation of monthly budget statements, working with the Business Partners to identify areas of variance from plan and undertaking any relevant work to support this process.

  • To provide relevant, timely and accurate advice to budget managers and to meet with budget managers as required by the Business Partner

  • To complete, on a monthly basis, a reconciliation between whole time equivalents (WTEs) shown in the Finance report and that shown in the Human Resources report to ensure that reports agree or the difference is no more than a very small tolerance of 3 WTEs.

  • To ensure regularly occurring corrections are corrected at source rather than the correction being repeated month after month. This may necessitate negotiation with external departments e.g. payroll or Human resources and sometimes with agencies external to the organisation e.g. sales ledger invoices.

  • To develop and understanding of the complexities of how income and expenditure relate and the impact of operational changes on both.

  • To ensure that relevant invoices are raised in a timely manner with appropriate backing documents and to maintain an up-to-date log in the income register.

  • To contribute to the work of the Finance Directorate as a whole.

  • To complete monthly reconciliations on payroll , prepayments and deferred income and any others as needed
