An exciting opportunity has opened-up for a Graduate-level Research and Marketing Assistant (12-month fixed term) to join a growing, full mix in-house B2B marketing team at an international scientific materials company based in Trafford Park.
This recent MEN Business of the Year Award-winner has an almost 120-year history of product innovation and supplies its portfolio of products to some of the world`s most recognised brands like Siemens, Hitachi ABB, CERN, Boeing and NASA on some of the world`s most challenging and ground-breaking engineering and infrastructure projects. You can find out products in the power infrastructure around us, in university and scientific laboratories, hospitals and schools, on trains, planes and electric vehicles and in space - but you probably wouldn`t know about it.
Reporting to the Group Marketing Manager, the successful candidate will have a business background and will ideally be `research-minded` with the intuition to match. The role will also exposure to the work of the marketing team, through the product Marketing managers. Having a natural interest in marketing along with any experience from university assignments will be a distinct advantage, as will an aptitude in the creation/editing of digital content; video editing in PremierePro, editing brochures in InDesign, good knowledge of PowerPoint will be the main tools.
Responsible for gathering intelligence and delivering mini research projects for the commercial teams and the company directors to support sales and marketing.
The role will combine desktop research with online surveys, using their initiative and working knowledge to interpret findings. The Research and Marketing Assistant will act as the champion for all research-related initiatives; offering their insight and "owning" all issued projects outright to completion.
The Research and Marketing Assistant will also be required to support the product Marketing Managers deliver their campaigns throughout the year.
Responsibilities and duties:
(regular and occasional, defined and discretionary, administrative, technical and staffing, standards of performance and method of assessment)
Create and deliver regular competitor updates: Profiles, marketing reach, recent activities, announcements, project/client wins etc.
Conduct market/customer research exercises to support marketing campaigns, content and messages
Provide the business with up-to-date sector intelligence: Technology trends, projects, key players, etc.
Create and own social and editorial "listening" to inform marketing of current `talking points`
Support targeted sales initiatives with profiles on companies/industries, size-up paid LinkedIn campaigns, etc.
Evaluate, track and benchmark marketing campaign performance, make recommendations for improvement
Degree-educated (a business degree ideally)
Aptitude for research - understands open questions, can use and interpret data
Articulate - communicates and can summarise well
Location: Home-based initially, but split between home and Trafford Park from summer (anticipated once restrictions ease)
