Job Description

NHS Health Education England - Communications and Engagement Manager
Location: Leeds
Hours: Monday - Friday (37.5 hours)
Pay: £16.97 rising to £19.89 after 12 weeks

This is an ongoing temporary position with the possibility of a further extension at the discretion of the business requirements.

  • Significant communications and engagement experience, ideally in a health and care or education setting
  • Looking for someone who ideally has a relevant professional qualification and has experience of working on complex and often sensitive topic areas.

The post holder will support the Communications and Stakeholder Lead and Stakeholder Manager in the marketing, communications, reputation management and stakeholder engagement for the Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) team, internally and externally.

Your duties will be:

  • Work with stakeholders and members of the team to deliver proactive communications activity, including award opportunities, newsletters, social media activity etc
  • Support the TEL team by creating presentations and correspondence for events, as necessary
  • Support the development and implementation of communication plans, in accordance with the agreed priorities of the team
  • Manage the distribution of monthly newsletters using an email marketing tool
  • Work with communications colleagues at partner organisations to develop joint communications plans and shared approaches to projects, understanding the organisational and political pressures for all partners
  • Update the website with content on a regular basis
  • Forward planning communications activity
  • Creating content for social media and linking with partner organisations to increase engagement and partnership working
  • Support in the evaluation of communications activities
  • Have a good understanding about all TEL projects and programmes to enable communications support to be provided in a timely and knowledgeable manner
  • Participate in relevant internal and external working groups/projects, services, and initiatives which may be highly complex, sensitive, political, and contain contentious information with the aim of providing information and communications advice and recommendations to the teams

What we are looking for:

  • Educated to post graduate level or equivalent level of knowledge of working at a similar level in specialist area
  • Evidence of continued professional development Comprehensive knowledge of project principles, techniques and tools, such as Prince 2 Foundation and Microsoft Project
  • Demonstrated experience of co-ordinating programmes in complex and challenging environments
  • Experience of monitoring substantial budgets and financial and business planning processes
  • Significant experience of successfully operating in a politically sensitive environment with diverse stakeholder input
  • Experience of drafting briefing papers and correspondence at SMT level
  • Experience of chairing effective meetings through building agendas and providing structure
  • Experience of taking information from a number of sources and provide analysis, summary and options within detailed report information
  • Experience and understanding of evaluating and measuring performance.
  • Experience of managing risks and reporting
  • Experience of working in an agile team and achieving objectives by working with others not under direct line management control
