NPS Front Desk Administrator

Job Description

Brook Street Ltd are pleased to announce a readily available position within the National Probation Service in Havant and Fareham. This role is based in a full-time, on-site temporary contract, Monday-Friday at an hourly rate of £10.42 p/h.

You'll play a crucial role in providing essential support in both Havant and Fareham Probation offices, ensuring smooth operations and excellent service delivery.

Job Overview:

  • Variety of Tasks: From managing a bustling reception desk to updating offender records and assisting with ad-hoc administrative tasks, no two days will be the same in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Front Desk Management: Be the welcoming face of the offices, answering calls, signing in visitors, and ensuring a positive experience for all.
  • Administrative Support: Assist probation practitioners and managers with various tasks, including scanning documents, updating offender records, and handling ad-hoc administrative duties.
  • Efficient Operations: Maintain office efficiency by reporting maintenance jobs, adhering to health and safety protocols, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.


  • Tech Savvy: Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to adapt to various software and systems.
  • Effective Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with colleagues, visitors, and agency representatives.
  • Organisation and Time Management: Ability to multitask, prioritise tasks, and work efficiently to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer Service Experience: Previous experience in a customer-facing role is desirable, demonstrating your ability to engage with diverse stakeholders effectively.

Pay Rate: £10.42 p/h

Schedule: Monday to Friday - 09:00-17:00, Occasional evenings and some Saturday mornings- on rota basis

Duration: until the end of March with the possibility of extension

Location: Havant Probation Office, Court House, Havant, PO9 2AS and Fareham Probation Office, Civic Offices, Fareham, PO16 7AZ

*The offered candidate is subject to a SC, basic DBS and 3 years activity check
