Case Administrator - Taunton
Role Details
Location: Taunton Probation Office, Suite 2, The Dean House, Belvedere Road, Taunton, Somerset, TA1 1HE
Hours: 37 hours per week
- Tuesdays/Wednesdays: 10:30-19:00
- Remaining days: 08:30-17:00
Contract Length: 6 months
Working Arrangement: Onsite only
Start Date: ASAP
Clearance Required: Standard DBS
Pay: In line with updated minimum wage rates
About the Role

The Ministry of Justice is seeking a committed and professional individual to join the Taunton Probation Office as an Administrative Support Probation Officer.
This position is central to the smooth and safe running of our office. You will be the first point of contact for visitors, staff, and partner agencies, helping to create a supportive environment for rehabilitation and public protection.
Key Responsibilities
Front of House & Safety Support
- Welcoming and granting access to visitors, service users and contractors.
- Maintaining awareness of behaviour and body language to identify risks.
- Reporting health & safety issues promptly and appropriately.
Communication & Public Interaction
- Answering incoming phone calls and providing clear, professional responses.
- Liaising with probation officers, partner organisations and external agencies.
- Supporting members of the public with confidence and professionalism.
Administrative & Office Duties
- Completing accurate data input and maintaining internal systems.
- Handling petty cash and issuing passes or rail tickets.
- Managing general administrative tasks and reception duties.
- Providing late night office cover twice weekly.

- Strong IT literacy and confidence using digital systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to stay calm, organised and adaptable in a fast paced environment.
- Resilience and good judgement in challenging situations.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Observant, vigilant and able to prioritise effectively.
Desirable
- Reception or front of house experience.
- Background in customer service.
- Previous work involving public interaction.
