We are currently recruiting for an Occupational Health Advisor to join an organisation in Leeds.


It's essential you are a Registered General Nurse, holding a degree level (or equivalent) post registration qualification in Occupational Health (SCPHN OH). With a demonstrable record of giving advice, guidance and support to employees and managers, including complex occupational health cases.

Within the role you will be responsible for providing evidence based occupational health services to staff, preserving dignity and ensuring adherence to clinical compliance to all relevant standards and statutory requirements.

Duties will include:

Providing advice to employees, HR and managers
Making recommendations regarding fitness for work and advising reasonable adjustments where required
Providing access to disability support services
Undertaking health assessments, referring cases to relevant agencies and ensuring individuals receive the suitable level of professional help
Managing a caseload of complex case, often rapid and unpredictable, utilising time limited evidenced based interventions for a wide range of mental and physical health difficulties.
Providing an informed opinion in case conferences
Undertaking occupational screening and surveillance in line with HS legislation
Collaborative working with the OH Manager, seniors and advisers, including liaison with external agencies, exchanging information and encouraging a proactive approach to OH and employee health and wellbeing initiatives
Supporting project work where required alongside the OH and HR management team
Attending and contributing in appropriate HR and operational meetings
Ensuring confidentiality and working to regulatory guidelines at all times, making recommendations for change and streamlining processes if necessary

Experience Required:

Registered General Nurse, holding a degree level (or equivalent) post registration qualification in Occupational Health (SCPHN OH)
Post registration experience in conducting complex case management; advising, supporting and managing employees with acute and chronic mental and physical health issues
Previous experience of managing relationships with customers and other internal stakeholders in a service provision context.
Experience of establishing productive relationships with colleagues and customers (internally and externally) and
across a variety of levels of seniority.
Previous experience in undertaking safety critical medicals; including spirometry and audiometry
Able to demonstrate a good track record of giving occupational health advice, guidance and support to managers and employees including complex cases.
Expert knowledge for advising employees who are off work due to ill-health or returning to work following ill health.
Understanding of requirement for health surveillance and underlying legislation.
