Operational Support Officer (Including Usher Duties)


Location: Fleetwood Magistrates' Court, Fleetwood (training provided at Blackpool County Court, with approximately 1 week in every 4 worked from Blackpool thereafter) FY7 6AT
Pay Rate: £12.86 per hour for the first 12 weeks, rising to £13.25 per hour thereafter
Hours: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week (9am to 5pm, with some 8:30am to 4:30pm shifts)
Assignment Length: Until 31 March 2027 (with potential extension)
Clearance Required: Enhanced DBS (to be provided by Brook Street for successful applicants)

About the Role


HM Courts & Tribunals Service is seeking an organised and professional Operational Support Officer to support the day-to-day running of the court. This varied role combines administration, customer service and usher duties within a busy court environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcoming and assisting court users, judiciary, legal professionals and members of the public.
  • Supporting and preparing court hearings, tribunals and meetings.
  • Calling parties into court and providing information on proceedings.
  • Preparing courtrooms and hearing rooms.
  • Managing court files, documents and bundles.
  • Creating and updating records on internal systems.
  • Data entry, filing, post handling and general administration.
  • Drafting standard correspondence and court documents.
  • Supporting in-person, remote and video-link hearings.
  • Assisting court users with enquiries and providing excellent customer service.
