Job Description
We currently have a fantastic opportunity for someone with a real passion for the environment to join our Government client. The role is based in Solihull but moving to Birmingham City Centre in Autumn. This will be a full-time ongoing temporary role of 37 hours a week, paying £11.66p/h.
The main purpose of this role is to determine applications for waste quality environmental permits to meet Government regulatory obligations.
Your main duties will include but not be restricted to:
" Primarily - to validate New Authorisations Water Resource applications
" Develop and maintain effective customer relationships (internal and external) to ensure good understanding and the efficient delivery of fit for purpose permits and transition into compliance activities
" Determine applications for standard environmental waste permits / water licences by carrying out appropriate technical assessment in accordance with policies and procedures and issue, refuse or vary permits to time and budget
" Produce appropriate standard records of actions and outcomes to justify and demonstrate that all legal and procedural requirements have been met
" Produce and provide regular accurate information to managers on progress to adapt and ensure delivery of work to time and cost
" Provide advice and guidance to operators and consultees to ensure a broad understanding of the permitting process
" Provide support as required in the preparation of information in relation to legal challenges against permits.
Essential requirements:
" Degree or equivalent in a science-related subject and/or relevant experience in similar sector. This role will be suitable for recent graduates from an Environment or Science background. Or a background in water utilities or water sectors
" Good communication skills (verbal and written)
" Confident in using Microsoft Office Word and Excel on a daily basis
" Good multi-tasking and organisational skills
