Job Description

Salary £32,000 - £38,000

Hours 8:30-6pm Monday to Friday

Benefits:

20 days holiday per year (increasing annually up to 25 days after 5 years)

Medical insurance available after one year

Pension

The role would be in conjunction with one other medical secretary and practice administrator

Covering letter required for job application

Skills/Requirements:

· 2 years' experience in the private sector in London preferable general practice but will accept from other specialities.

· At least 2 continuous years in a previous post to show the candidate has durability in a role

· Clean employment record without penalties or dismissals

· AMSPAR qualification preferable but not absolute

· Computer literate and proficient with all Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel

· Personable and warm character able to work in an open office environment with other secretaries.

· Multitasking and working under pressure

· Confident in dealing with demanding and high net worth individuals

· Experience in audiotyping

· Knowledge in Heydoc clinical system desirable

· Knowledge of medical terminology

· Lives in London

Roles:

1. Liaising with patients, hospitals and consultants.

  • Arranging hospital admission for patients when requested
  • Arranging tests and investigations when requested
  • Dealing with telephone enquiries from patients
  • Chasing outstanding pathology and radiological results/reports

2. Messages

  • Accurate recording of messages.
  • Ensuring prioritisation of messages when appropriate

3. Dealing with email and paper correspondence

  • Organizing incoming doctor correspondence and ensuring prioritisation of these
  • Scanning of correspondence into patient notes

4. Typing

  • Typing and processing of referral letters and outgoing patient correspondence in prompt time
  • Accurate copy and audio typing speed of minimum 60wpm using audio-typing machinery

5. Doctors' general diary management

6. Participate in practice meetings

7. Reception Support

  • Answer phone/screen calls
  • Book appointment bookings
  • Take payments

8. Maintaining Patient Records

  • Maintaining and filing accurate patient records using HeyDoc

9. Assist Practice Administrator/Quality Manager when needed

  • Checking patient BACs transfers and clearing them off the HeyDoc
  • End of day banking
  • Debt chasing
  • Daily/monthly clinic quality checks
