Brook Street are proud to be representing a large Government office with their search for a Finance Assistant to join their Overpayments Team on a 6-month Fixed Term Contract with the aim of becoming Permanent.

Main duties of this role will include processing Early Year Updates (EYU) based in both the York or Newcastle Centres of Excellence. The role will assist in the provision of transactional processing services to reduce the high level of client queries as a result of an overpayment and processing of EYUs (early year updates). You will be working on a project that is instrumental, ensuring that overpayments are handled and recovered accordingly.

Key responsibilities:

You will contribute to the delivery of a high-quality Finance Service by handling payroll overpayments and Staff Debt services with sensitivity, often involving the management of complex and personal information with integrity
You will collaborate closely and confidently with internal teams to ensure cases are brought to a satisfactory conclusion by resolving queries
You will maintain records for audit purposes and support line management with a variety of additional tasks as and when required
Required skills
You need to have:

Administration or data entry experience with good attention to detail, experience using Excel and be able to use basic formulas
You will have the ability to prioritise and handle workload independently, excellent interpersonal skills, a flexible attitude to work and be an effective teammate and able to work equally well on your own
