Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within The Derbyshire Constabulary Procurement Unit. This is a key department within the Force ensuring we remain compliant with National and International procurement regulations and legislation.

The current team are evolving quickly in order to support operational policing objectives to deliver on the increasing demands on the Force to provide effective efficient Policing. On-going collaboration with the Fire Service and other Police Forces regionally and nationally will assist the delivery of value for money initiatives in line with Home Office directives.

As our Procurement Officer you will provide all necessary assistance to the Head of Procurement in implementing the procurement strategy, deliver an efficient and effective procurement and contracting service which meets the strategic needs and objectives of the Police and Crime Commissioner and Constabulary, whilst delivering value for money and ensuring compliance with standing orders and legislation relating to procurement.

You will also be expected to attend meetings with all suppliers and contractors across all regions and keep under review and advise on the suitability of framework contracts for individual procurements.

They are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, and dynamic Procurement Officer. You will also focus on providing an outstanding procurement service to a range of customers - everyone from project managers and stakeholders, through to those at a senior level. This means you will work with sensitive operational areas and be responsible for both monitoring contract performance and analysing commercial risk. You'll have knowledge of the principles of change management, project management and continuous improvement, and their practical application, with a focus on delivery.

You will be MCIPS qualified, good organisational skills, competent IT and analytical skills and have a background of developing a procurement service; you will have a sound understanding of best practice procurement processes and methodologies. Have experience of UK and International legislation affecting procurement, with experience and understanding of procurement/contract law.

As a strong communicator, you will confidently engage with people at all levels of seniority and inspire those in the procurement team to achieve their best. With a collaborative ethos, you will embed change, resolve issues and help teams to overcome any setbacks.
