Recovery Worker - Full Time - Permanent - £24193 - £28118 + Benefits - Gateshead

Brook Street Social Care alongside a nation-wide charity specialising in substance misuse and criminal justice intervention projects.


You will work as an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team, working alongside colleagues to deliver high quality interventions to service users. The main focus of this role is to deliver group work programmes and 1-1 psycho-social interventions to service users dependent of their assessed needs. You will provide screening and assessment for structured psycho-social interventions, and create a safe space in service user groups for the expression of anxieties, exploration of feelings and sharing of experience. Alongside professionals you will be developing group interventions which have a strong evidence base, that best meet the needs of the service users, and you will also support in assessing the effectiveness of these interventions.

This role requires you to work as a part of Gateshead Recovery Partnership, which supports people with their own, or their loved one`s drug and alcohol issues. You will be flexible, curious and a good listener. You will be none-judgemental and treat every person who uses the service as an individual. You will be responsible for recording information about what you do, so it is important that you have an attention to detail. You will enjoy working with people from all different backgrounds, and be passionate about making a passionate change in peoples lives. You will be compassionate, open and bold. Excellent understanding of drug and alcohol issues and experience of working within a related field is an essential, as well as commitment to multi-agency working and establishing partnerships with other professions to achieve good outcomes for the service user group, e.g., mental health services, criminal justice agencies, community groups, etc.

The interview process for this role is 2 stage. The first interview is competency based, face to face. If required the interview can be facilitated via Teams. If you are successful at competency you will be invited back for a values based interview.
