Purchasing Assistant

Salary - DOE


My client is situated in rural Shropshire and is seeking a reliable individual to join them on a permanent basis as a Purchasing Assistant. You will need to have a stable work history and be an effective communicator with great attention to detail.

The Person:


Ideally have previous experience working within a purchasing department
Be able to demonstrate a stable work history
Be able to demonstrate effective communication skills.
Have excellent time management skills
Have effective negotiation skills.

The Role:

You will be working a 40-hour week on a rotating shift pattern of 8.30am -5pm & 9am -5.30pm. Within this role you will also need to work one Saturday per month 8-12.

You will receive new requests for products and services from the customer service department and you will then be responsible to call a selection of suppliers to obtain up to 4 quotations from your existing suppliers to be able to then select a supplier based on price and availability. Once you have selected a supplier you will then update the in house system will all relevant details and then send this back to the Customer Service team to action. You will ensure that the supplier database is maintained with accurate information which could include chasing documents in respect of insurance certification and negotiate with potential new suppliers and set them up on the system. As part of this role you may be involved in investigating invoice queries.
