Brook Street have the pleasure of working with our client based in Cambridge. They are looking for an experienced Receptionist to join their team.

Job title: Receptionist
Location: Cambridge
Hours/Pay: Shifts, including weekends £11.44ph

Start date: Immediate Start

This role involves following departmental standard operating procedures to provide a patient focused, high quality, efficient and complete administrative support service, enabling efficient patient flow through the hospital.


  • Assist with the coordination of patient activity through the hospital.
  • Supporting patient and visitors that attend Hospital.
  • Always meet and greet patients efficiently and professionally while recording information on the Lorenzo system.
  • Assist the ward team with patient flow by request/book hospital transport for eligible patients.
  • Escalate to the Senior Patient Flow Facilitator any information that could delay a patient's discharge


  • Input all data requirements accurately within the different IT systems for booking various tests and recording of patient information (e.g., Tomcat, Lorenzo, excel, word and any other hospital IT systems), according to standard operational procedures.
  • Use of telephone
  • Use of computer and standard applications e.g., word, excel and email.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent customer care skills, whilst carrying out your daily duties.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills both in person and by telephone using tact, discretion and sensitivity.
  • Accurate written communication, to convey (sometimes) sensitive information to colleagues internal and external to directorate.
  • All patients, visitors and staff are to receive a friendly, professional service with information accurately relayed to the appropriate member of staff.
