Job Description

Our client is looking to recruit for a recovery worker for their service based in York, this is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are dedicated to the principles of social inclusion, to work with adults with mental health needs. You will become part of the team supporting people who access the crisis drop in service.

The service operates 365 days a year between the hours of 1800-2300 and provides information & support around crisis prevention for people who use the services for their families and carers; signposting into other relevant and appropriate services or agencies

As part of a team you will work closely with mental health workers, GPs, Crisis Team, A&E, Police, partners and other agencies.
You will demonstrate an ability to prioritise work and will also be responsible for administrative tasks.

Previous experience of working with people who have experienced mental health issues, particularly in a crisis setting, and will have demonstrated skills and ability to help others identify and overcome barriers.


A large requirement of this post is that you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to demonstrate proactive and highly motivated attitude.

Hourly rate for this position is £10.50per hour + holiday pay

This is a temporary position via BS Social Care, various shift requirements will be carried out on a weekly basis at the request of our client & the demand of the service. Applicants MUST meet the above & below criteria of the role

  • You MUST be on the DBS update service
  • Car Driver - Due to location & shift requirements
  • Have a minimum of 6 months experience with the relevant NVQ in Health & Social Care or 12 months recent paid experience within a crisis setting with vulnerable adults
  • 2 references 1 which must include recent employer
