Job Description

**Residential Support Worker**
**Long term temporary ongoing work**
**£9.00 - £9.50 per hour**
**Children with challenging behaviour, autism, learning disabilities, EBD**

I am working with a service in Bedford that supports young people from the age of 12 up to the age of 18 through personalised, specialist care, young people can grow and thrive within their community. They support them to achieve in education and support them in day to day life.

They are a 5 bedded residential home and their priority is making sure the young people are supported at all times. Primarily you will be supporting the permanent members of staff there. This will include general housekeeping like cooking and cleaning but will also involve being attentive to the young people, encouraging them to get involved in the household activities. You will also encourage them to engage in activities, taking them out but sometimes your role may include just being with them while they watch TV. The young people at this home have a variety of needs ranging from challenging behaviour, to learning disabilities and all are high risk. Being able to take the young people out on activity days, taking them to and from school, is a large part of the role so you will need a full driving license.

This is a temporary ongoing position, so the hours are flexible and we work on an availability basis however there is a lot of shifts available and the more flexibility you give me the more work I can get you. This service values continuity so they can provide the best environment for the young people so I want people that are able to commit to the shifts I book for you.

I am looking for someone who is caring and empathetic in nature. Someone who understands how to deal with challenging behaviour, Learning Disabilities and working with young people that are high risk. I am also looking for someone who is willing to engage and interact with the young people and have fun with them, within reason and professional boundaries.

You will need to have a minimum of one years professional experience in care as well as professional experience working with children and young people. You will also need to have an up to date DBS on the online update service.

*DBS on the online update service or prepared to get one
*12 months experience in care and professional experience working with children
*A full drivers license
