About the Role:

We're seeking a Senior Administrative Officer with at least 1 year of proven team management experience to join the National Probation Service. This role is vital to the effective operation of local services and will involve leading a small admin team through a period of significant departmental challenge.

You'll take ownership of both administrative coordination and staff performance management, contributing directly to the smooth running of daily operations and wider team goals.

  • Support recruitment, on-boarding, and ongoing training and development of team members
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare essential reports and documentation
  • Oversee health & safety and office compliance
  • Represent management in meetings where appropriate
  • Use internal systems to monitor performance, gather data, and produce insight
  • Safeguard sensitive and confidential information

What We're Looking For

  • At least 1 year of direct experience managing a team
  • Comfortable with performance management, HR procedures, and supporting staff development

  • A clear communicator and calm under pressure
  • Solution-focused and proactive in approach
  • A supportive leader who fosters collaboration and accountability

Why Apply?

This is a meaningful role that directly supports the work of the Probation Service, helping people reintegrate into society. You'll be joining a committed team where your skills as a manager and organiser will make a tangible impact.

If you're an experienced administrator with strong leadership skills looking to take the next step in your public sector career, we want to hear from you.
