Job Description

Brook Street is currently recruiting on behalf of our Belfast client to recruit a Senior Data and Governance Officer

The person hired will be responsible to manage and mitigate the company data protection compliance risk, recommending and implementing strategic improvements to policy, systems and reporting, including continuous improvement.

The postholder will also support the Corporate Services Directorate, as well as other colleagues across the Association to assist in the delivery of the highest standards of service and compliance, to meet its obligations by developing, leading, monitoring and administering a structured data and information governance framework.

Duties

* Lead on the management of personal data.
* Review and manage quality and content of data held.
* Maintain information systems to ensure information is dependable and robust.
* Deliver an effective and compliant records management service, as part of a modern and customer focused service and foster a culture of this across the company
* Assist departments in managing subject access requests.
* Working closely with departmental champions to undertake reviews of privacy issues in activities or projects.
* Provide reports and information to the Board, its committees, and the senior leadership team on the organisation`s data protection activities
* Advise on, maintain and develop the organisation`s information Asset Register.
* Maintain the Association`s Retention and Disposal Schedule and Privacy Notiices
* Produce and deliver a programme of information governance education and training to staff across the organisation on Data Protection requirements.

Criteria:
* Level six qualification (e.g. bachelor`s degree) or above plus 2 years` (gained in the last 6 years`) experience in a governance / regulation role or similar. OR 4 years` (gained in the last 10 years`) experience of governance / quality / equality / regulation and legislation.
* Demonstrable knowledge and commitment to achieving high standards of governance in accordance with regulations, to include data protection and GDPR legislation and development of policies and procedures relating to data protection.
* Strong background in interpreting, applying and providing complex expert advice on legislation, governance / quality / equality / regulation and devising, implementing and monitoring Data Protection policies and procedures.
* Demonstrate experience in auditing routines, an understanding of risk management principles and managing information risk.
* Strong communication skills, capable of dealing with a wide range of stakeholders, and the ability to translate thinking clearly to others, including demonstrable skills in document / report writing / dissemination.
* Demonstrate experience in reviewing quality and delivering continuous improvement.

Desirable

* Knowledge of the Social Housing Sector.
