Job Description
I have a fantastic opportunity with NHS Digital for a Senior Information Analyst (Power BI). This role is a temporary assignment till Feb 2019 with view to being extended thereafter. The role is offered Full time and also on Part-time basis.
Description:
The Senior Information Analyst will develop and maintain relationships with the Information Asset Owners (IAO) for each data source and ensure that they are kept appropriately informed about the use of the unpublished forms of the data (if any). They will work with the IAO in order to understand plans for future releases of each data source. The Senior Information Analyst will take responsibility for ensuring that any instances of datasets created outside of the primary data source (e.g. temporary local tables) are appropriately managed in terms of access control and maintained/disposed of.
Working knowledge of Power BI or similar, experience of working with Health & Social Care Data, Data Protection & Information Governance
Develop analysis in SQL to be used in online tools and demand analysis, for example benchmarking tools
Attend workshops/calls with stakeholders to present examples of business intelligence and seek real world business problems that this type of application could solve
Prepare suitable requirement specifications based on stakeholder problems and the capabilities of business intelligence products
Design visualisations based on aggregate data tables
Develop suitable business rules and derivations using structured query language
Identify sources of data where necessary and work with colleagues in IG and the Data Management Service to ensure that permissions and technical access is achieved
Design test scripts in order to show the quality of outputs
Work with internal and external colleagues in order to test and refine the outputs
Prepare guidance material to accompany the outputs
Prepare specifications, methodology papers and other materials to aid the transparency of production
Provide consultancy and guidance to colleagues across the organisation in the best practice use of business intelligence development tools
Participate as an early adopter of new technologies (e.g. those that will form part of the new data services platform)
Prepare plans and update these as part of a wider service/program delivery function
