Job Description

We are looking for interim cover, Candidate Attraction and Retention Manager, starting immediately or as soon as possible for approximately three months in the first instance. The role sits within the HR Service Centre Team and will report to the Deputy Director of Human Resources.

The initial focus of this interim post will be supporting the recruitment of Executive Level and Senior Posts. This will involve working closely with members of the Executive Board and senior leadership, managing the relationships with the external search agencies engaged to carry out the recruitment, ensuring successful and compliant completion of campaigns.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing strong professional relationships with senior management to establish credibility and provide advice and guidance on best practices, contributing to recruitment and selection designs and decisions as appropriate
  • Engage with Headhunters ensuring agreements provide the best options and track their delivery throughout the process, including tendering, managing the relationship with the external supplier and ensuring recruitment campaigns stay on track and are successfully completed
  • Create, implement and maintain a talent acquisition strategy and support with consistent policies and procedures in line with the vision and values
  • Proactively look at how to attract the best talent including identifying relevant networks
  • Engage with stakeholders to build and maintain a strong employer brand that supports the universities vision and values
  • Identifying ways to encourage engagement of passive candidates through the recruitment process
  • Work with the HR Service Centre Manager, the HR Senior Leadership team and HR Business Partners to deliver strategic workforce planning needs
  • Ensure best use of recruiting options - advertising; global press; search & select agencies; Headhunters
  • Creating processes so that pipelined candidates remain engaged throughout the recruitment & selection journey
  • Providing written and verbal updates (as appropriate) to recruiting managers
  • Build and develop relationships with our advertising agency
  • Provide up to date, useful data and analytics to support the work

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Experience in senior stakeholder management

  • Managing the full lifecycle of a piece of recruitment (defining the role, JD, PS and candidate pack design, tendering for a search agency, advertising and supporting shortlisting, running assessments, managing negotiations, offers, contract issuing, onboarding)

  • In-house HE or Public Sector experience would be an advantage, or agency experience working on Exec level public sector accounts

  • Any experience with employer branding, social media or advertising roles would be a definite plus - but the immediate focus would be senior recruitment

We are looking for someone who can work full time, with some remote working but at least two days a week in the office (government restrictions allowing).
