Job Description

You are a Senior Support Worker who worked directly with children and young people and want to develop your skills? You hold An NVQ Level 3 related to children and You are a Driver? This job is then for YOU!!!

Your will be responsible for supporting children and young people with Emotional, Behavioral and Social Difficulties and/or Moderate Learning Difficulties and/or Attachment Disorder and/or Mental Health needs and the associated needs of these diagnosis` in all aspects of their lives

RESPONSIBILITIES

The hours worked are in a shift pattern and include Sleeping nights. You will be involved in:
The direct care and support of the children and young people living in the house in meeting all their daily needs, emotional, social, educational, physical needs as well as individual needs of race, religion, culture and language.
Showing by example and giving guidance to the staff team on shift ways to encourage and engage children and young people effectively both individually and as a group/more than one child/young person at those times when it is necessary.

Ensuring that the activities, materials and equipment used and the structure of the day reflect the needs and age of the children and young people living there and are consistent with those experienced by other
To provide consultation and leadership in relation to social work practice and the Care Standards and Children`s Homes Regulations

To provide on-the-job training by working alongside other staff and evaluate the performance and effectiveness of staff and ensure they are doing their jobs properly.
Participation in recruitment of staff to work in the house and meeting their induction responsibilities in post.

Requirement:

NQ3/Diploma or other relevant childcare qualification. Awareness of the impact of disruptive patterns of life on children and young people. Have a working knowledge of, effective anti-discriminatory social work practices. Have a positive attitude toward research and ability to integrate learning. Understanding of the developmental needs of children.

Minimum of two years` experience in working with children and young Essential
people with Emotional Behavioral and Social Difficulties and/or Learning difficulties. To be able to communicate clearly and sensitively with children and young people and be able to identify and manage their many needs. To communicate effectively with staff, family members and other professionals.To write clearly and concisely.

It is important to note that this post will involve considerable contact with vulnerable children. We will require the successful applicant to sign an `Oath of Confidentiality` form, which legally protects the children in our care from any willful disclosure of information regarding placements in our home. The successful applicant will also be required to complete a `Criminal Records Bureau Form`, which will be checked against records held on the Police national computer. This will demonstrate a record of any criminal offences, which may be deemed to present a risk to children. Department of Health checks will also be undertaken.

Location: Northampton
Salary: £ 21 117.00 to £25 976.00 Dependent on experience and qualifications.
Plus, sleep in allowance at £40 per night.

Shifts: An average of 39 hours per week.The shift patterns consist of Early`s and lates with and without sleep ins. At the weekend day shifts vary and can consist of twelve hour shifts with 10a.m to 10p.m being the most common.
However, these hours are subject to change to maximise staff cover at the necessary times. Weekend working is necessary. You will be required to do sleep in duties on average twice a week.
